Best Free Email Verifiers in 2026: Free Limits and Prices Compared

"Free email verifier" usually means a free trial: somewhere between 10 and 250 checks after you create an account. We went through the pricing and free-plan pages of 13 popular verifiers on 4 November 2026 and wrote down exactly what each one gives away, what it costs after that, and whether it checks the mailbox itself. Use the picker below to find the one that fits your list, then read on for how to verify a big list for close to nothing.

A few things worth knowing from those pages. NeverBounce's help center now lists 10 free credits; older articles around the web still say 1,000. ZeroBounce's monthly 100 depends on signing up with a business email. Clearout says pay-as-you-go is no longer offered to new users. And NeverBounce is now part of ZoomInfo, while Emailable has absorbed several older checkers (TheChecker, DataValidation, Trumail and others).

Approximate price per 1,000 verifications at around 10,000 emails, from each vendor's own price table (4 Nov 2026). Lower is better.

The spread is more than ten times between the cheapest and the most expensive. Price isn't everything (accuracy on catch-all domains, speed and integrations differ), but for a cold email team verifying tens of thousands of leads a month, it adds up fast.

Free browser checks vs paid mailbox checks

Every paid tool above does something a free browser tool can't: it connects to the recipient's mail server and asks whether the mailbox exists (the SMTP check). That needs a server, which is why it costs credits. What you can do for free, and on any volume, is everything before that: format, typos, whether the domain exists, whether it has a mail server, throwaway domains, team inboxes and personal inboxes. On most B2B lists, those catch a big share of the addresses that would hard bounce.

The cheapest way to verify a big list: two steps

  1. 1Free pass on everythingRemove dead domains, no-MX, throwaways, broken formats; fix typos.
  2. 2Decide on the risky onesTeam and personal inboxes by your own rules.
  3. 3Paid SMTP on survivors onlyOnly if the list is old, guessed, or very important.
  4. 4Send and watch bouncesUnder 2% means the method worked.

You pay for mailbox checks only on addresses that survived the free pass, instead of paying to learn that a domain doesn't exist. Put in your own numbers:

Free pass first: what you save
Paid check on the whole list$80
Free pass, then paid on 17,600 survivors$70
You save$9.60

Run your list through the free verifier to get your real "% removed".

Key pointDon't game free tiers with dozens of accounts. Several vendors limit one free plan per person or organization (Verifalia changed its terms in January 2026 to say exactly that), and duplicate accounts get cut off. The two-step approach is cheaper anyway.

Which free verifier should you use?

  • One address, right now: any of the no-signup checkers. Ours shows every check and the mail provider.
  • A list of thousands, free: Koldemails for the free pass (25,000 per run, no signup, nothing uploaded).
  • Mailbox-level checks on a budget: Reoon, DeBounce, EmailListVerify and MillionVerifier had the lowest per-1,000 prices on the day we checked.
  • Small, occasional lists: Emailable's 250 free credits are the largest one-time signup allowance in this list.
